Wrestling 2005

Facing substantial graduation losses, third year wrestling coach John Scholz
molded numerous newcomers with some strong returning veterans to lead the team to a 16-6 dual meet record this season. The Raiders defended their Watchung Conference Championship and finished second in the district 11 tournament behind Rahway. Four Scotch Plains-Fanwood wrestlers captured district championships, including two defending champions, brothers Stephen and Patrick Mineo. Stephen Mineo broke the school record for career victories during the district tournament. The other district champions were Sal Gano and Anthony Ferrante. Also qualifying for the region tournament were Trevor Cannon, Ricky Olsson, AJ Watson, Fabiano, and Nick Giannaci,

The Raiders qualified for the state tournament where they lost a close match to Livingston and finished fourth in the Union County Tournament with Patrick Mineo and Fabiano winning titles

Other team accomplishments were placing second in the John
Goles Holiday Tournament, second in the Patriot Duals.
